Issue a card
Creating a virtual corporate card, naming it for the person who will use it, and what happens next.
Version 1.0 · Last updated
When you would do this
When someone on your team needs to spend on behalf of the company: subscriptions, advertising, travel, supplier accounts that only take cards.
Cards are virtual and are funded from your shared treasury. There is no separate card balance to top up.
Before you start
Cards need an open bank account. If you have not activated banking, do that first. See "What your fiat account can do".
Cards are also enabled per organisation and per country. If the section is not available to you, ask your account manager.
Steps
- Go to Operation › Cards.
- Select Issue Card.
- Enter the name on card: the person who will use it. This is what appears on the card itself.
- Enter a card name: an internal label such as Marketing Ops or AWS. This is what you and your finance team will see in lists and reports, so make it descriptive.
- Optionally set a daily limit. You can add or change limits later. See "Set card limits and controls".
- Select Issue card.
Assigning a card to a person
A card is assigned by naming the person on it and labelling it for its purpose. Use one card per person per purpose rather than sharing a single card, so that spend is attributable and you can freeze one without disrupting everyone.
Card details are revealed only to Admins. If the cardholder needs the number, an Admin retrieves it and passes it on. See "Set card limits and controls".
What to expect
A new card appears in the workspace showing Pending or Awaiting activation while it is being created, then Active.
The workspace header shows how many cards you have out of your maximum, which is 30.
Spend draws on your shared treasury. Each card transaction appears in the Card Activity view. See "View card transactions".
Common problems and what they mean
"Activate banking first." Cards run on your banking account. Finish activation.
"Corporate cards are not enabled for your organisation yet." Not switched on. Contact your account manager.
"Not available for your corporation's country or plan." Cards are not offered on your current country or plan.
"Enter a whole number of 1 or more." The daily limit must be a whole number. Leave it empty for no daily limit.
The card is stuck on Awaiting activation. Give it a few minutes and refresh. If it persists, contact support.
You have hit the maximum of 30 cards. Close cards you no longer use to free up capacity.
