Create a wallet
Adding a vault to hold your funds. Policies apply to every vault automatically.
Version 1.1 · Last updated
When you would do this
When you want to separate funds by purpose: operations, payroll, reserves, one per entity, one per network. Only an Admin can create a wallet.
Wallets are called vaults in the app. A vault requires your signing quorum to move funds out of it.
Steps
- Go to Governance › Vaults.
- Select Add Vault.
- Give it a name that will still make sense to someone else in a year. "Operations EUR" is better than "Vault 2".
- Choose the blockchain it will operate on.
- Choose the key quorum that will govern it.
- Select Create Vault.
How policies apply
Policies are set once, at the organisation level, and apply to every vault automatically. There is no per-vault policy to attach or detach — a new vault is governed by your policy from the moment it is created, with the same thresholds, self-approval limits and screening rules as the rest of your treasury.
If you need different rules for a particular purpose, change the organisation policy in Governance › Policies. That change is a governed action: it is queued to the signing queue and requires signatures before it takes effect, and it applies to all vaults.
What to expect
The vault appears on the Vaults page with its balance and its positions by chain. You can drag vaults to reorder them.
The page header shows your totals across all vaults: total value, number of vaults, number of positions, and number of quarantine addresses.
Balances update after transactions settle on the network. There is a short delay after a payment or deposit. Refresh balances forces a fresh check.
Each vault shows a wallet risk score, which reflects screening of the addresses it has interacted with.
Common problems and what they mean
"Add Vault" is not available. You are not an Admin. Only Admins create vaults.
"Please select a key quorum" or "Please select a blockchain." Both are required. Neither has a default, on purpose.
The vault shows no positions. Nothing has been received into it yet. Its address is on the Receive page under Direct Deposit.
Your policy change has not applied. It is waiting in the signing queue. Open Operation › Signing and sign it.
You created a vault on the wrong network. Create another one on the correct network. Do not send funds to the first one on the assumption it will work.
