Counterparties

    Add a counterparty

Saving the people and companies you pay, so you never have to paste an address again.

    When you would do this

Before you pay anyone for the first time, and certainly before you pay them a second time. Admins, Signers and Requesters can all add counterparties.

Paying from a saved counterparty rather than a pasted address is the single most effective habit for avoiding a misdirected payment.

    Steps

    1. Go to Governance › Counterparty.
    2. Select Add Counterparty.
    3. Choose the type: Vendor, Customer, Investor, Employee, Contractor, Subsidiary, Institution, Exchange or Crypto Service Provider. This drives how they are grouped and reported.
    4. Choose the entity type: Business or Individual. A business asks for a company name and a contact person. An individual asks for a first and last name.
    5. Add contact details: email, phone, and VAT number if they have one.
    6. Add one or more wallet addresses. For each, pick the chain, paste the address, and give it a label such as Primary or Payroll.
    7. Add internal notes if useful: payment terms, contract references, special instructions. These are for your team, not for the counterparty.
    8. Save.

    Adding many at once

To load an existing supplier list, use Bulk Import Counterparties. Download the template first. The Excel version is recommended because the chain field is a dropdown, which prevents the most common import error.

Upload your file and review the preview, which shows how many rows are valid and which have errors, before anything is created.

    What to expect

Wallet addresses are screened for risk when you submit. A counterparty whose address screens badly will show a risk tier on their record.

A newly added address starts as new. It becomes known after a completed transaction to it. Paying a new address above your new-recipient threshold raises a flag for review, which is intentional friction on first payment.

The counterparty then appears in the Pay screen's counterparty picker, along with when you last paid them and how much.

Common problems and what they mean

"Please enter a valid wallet address." The address does not match the format for the chain you selected. Confirm both with the counterparty.

Name rejected. The name fields restrict which characters are allowed. Remove unusual punctuation.

The address screened as high risk. Do not proceed on your own judgement. See "Read a counterparty's risk profile and history".

They need paying on several networks. Add one address per network on the same counterparty record rather than creating duplicates.
